ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Health care associated infections (HAIs) significantly impact the health of patients, society and healthcare system and are the second most prevalent cause of death. Decontamination and Reprocessing of Medical Devices play a very important role in the prevention of HAIs. The certificate in Central Sterile Services Aide is designed to introduce specialized knowledge, and skills to the learners’ regarding infection control principles, and the competence in practice that required to work as a CSS Aide. It is an offering which will provide new opportunities for participants within the local and regional healthcare community.
TARGET GROUP
This training programme is intended for school graduates and potential candidates who are interested to work in the field of sterilization services and to be qualified as CSS Aide.
PROGRAMME BENEFITS
The programme consists of two courses:
- CS5001: Introduction to Central Sterile Services
- CS5002: Fundamental Skills of Central Sterile Services
ASSESSMENT
Those include and are not limited to exams, clinical observations, assignments, skill proficiency test and presentations.
LEARNING AND TEACHING STRATEGIES
The teaching and learning philosophy underpins Student Centred Approach. The programme strives to implement this philosophy where practical delivery of the content is structured through student-centred activities and lectures to cover the theoretical principles and standards. The practical aspect is highly emphasized in this programme not only in classes but also in clinical set-ups.
CERTIFICATION
A certificate of completion will be awarded to learners who successfully achieve an aggregate result of at least 70% of overall assessment items. The certificate is aligned with the requirements of NHRA Licensure examination.
TRAINING DURATION
600 training hours will be delivered over a six-month period as shown under:
- Part 1: Introduction to Central Sterile Services
Course Dates: 21 January – 12 March 2024
Timing: 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm (Sun-Tues-Thu)
Venue: Bahrain Polytechnic Campus – Isa Town
- Part 2: Fundamental Skills of Central Sterile Services
Course Dates: 17 March – 14th July 2023
Timing: 5 hours every working day
Venue: Salmaniya Medical Complex
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- A good level of English literacy adequate to cope with the course requirements and pass an English Exam minimum of level B1.
- CPR (original and photocopy).
