Technical Certificate in Welding Technology Program
About the Course
Welders fuse metal components together through the use of intense heat or gas in order to form strong, permanent bonds. They work in all types of industries from construction to automobile manufacturing to aerospace and more. A vast majority of products in the industry require welding, which makes this an in-demand career. This demand is rising quickly and there are not enough skilled Bahraini welders to meet it. Therefore, this course has been designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills employers are looking for. This will help to prepare a national force capable of meeting the growing demand and improving Bahrain economy in the long-term.

- Safe working practices in welding industry
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
Learning and Teaching Strategies
The course is delivered using tutor-led demonstrations followed by practical tasks where participants gain experience of working with appropriate tools and equipment used in the welding industry. Underpinning knowledge is delivered by integrating practical demonstrations and classroom-based theory sessions using a wide range of learning resources.
Participants are encouraged to evaluate their performance in given tasks using a combination of tutor, self, and peer assessment methods. The inspection of welded joints and components within the workshop encourage self, and peer assessment. This helps participants to relate the results of the inspection process to the adjustment of process parameters to enable them to experiment, in an attempt to improve weld quality. This is supported
with continuous feedback from the tutor on their performance and progress.
Certification
Certificate of completion from Bahrain Polytechnic will be issued to learners who attend 80% of the course sessions, score at least 60 marks in the course assessments, and pass the third-party test by Al Hoty Analytical Services
